SATURDAY
JULY 21TH & SATURDAY JULY 28 ON SEVEN 5.30pm
Pittsburgh may be a long way from the Bungle Bungles, yet the team from Coxy's
Big Break on SEVEN reduces that distance via a charity which saw the light
of day in a Pittsburgh theatre.
To this day entertainers in 14 countries have raised funds exceeding $2.4 billion
for Variety, the Childrens' Charity. Australian entertainers recently furthered
the cause by participating in the 2007 Variety Bash. raising funds for children
with special needs.
Departing
Darwin, 53 participants and their 14 vehicles headed for isolation in the Top
End of the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
Coxy's Big Break, produced by WTFN Entertainment for SEVEN, will share
the highlights of this year's Variety Bash in a two-part coverage of the event.
The first of these special programs will air on SEVEN at 5.30pm, Saturday July
21st, with the second scheduled the following week.
Host of the program, Geoff Cox, accompanied by his production and camera crew,
provides the excitement of an off-road adventure, heading along the bitumen to
Katherine Gorge and then taking on the somewhat dubious tracks into the remote
corner of the continent's north west.
Along the way Coxy and reporter Kelly Landry take viewers into the spectacularly
beautiful Bungle Bungles, then to Lake Argyle, before calling into the Argyle
diamond mine, to El Questo, Emma Gorge and so much more of the continent's hidden
secrets.
During shooting of the programs Coxy and his team met some of the more colourful
characters of the outback, as well as some of the traditional owners. Funds raised
from this year's Variety Bash are used to purchase special equipment for children
in need, thereby directly improving the quality of life of disabled and disadvantaged
children.
On behalf of Variety, the Childrens' Charity, Coxy presented a range of sporting
equipment to Aboriginal children from five schools in the Timber Creek area of
the Top End.
