JAMIE
BISHOP
new media
Jamie joined the WTFN team after 28 years in the hospitality and television industries.
He started with Southern Pacific Hotels (now 6 Continents) holding senior management
and marketing positions for over 8 years. He then joined Rydges Hotels &
Resorts as Marketing Director, where he played a key role in the development of
the group as it grew from 6 to 27 properties. These included the Bobby McGee's
Conglomeration and Thredbo Alpine Resort.
Jamie studied Hotel & Restaurant Management and graduated from Regency Hotel
School, South Australia. He also attended Cornell University USA (CPD programme)
where he majored in Hotel Marketing. He's spoken at industry conferences
within Australia and overseas about marketing & event management.
His TV affair began when he and partner Ian Heydon concepted and ran Getaway
TV's web site for 3 years. They sold the site back to the Nine Network in
1997, which led to his 8 year stint with the Nine Network & ACP Publications,
working on Getaway and then Postcards Victoria producing their Great
Escapes segments, as well as developing travel specials.
In 2004 he teamed with WTFN and greatly enjoys the role of 'point-person' with
the tourism and entertainment industries, developing opportunities in all manner
of TV and web-related ventures.
He oscillates happily between Victoria and SA. When he's not tackling WTFN activities,
he and wife Trudy raise their 2 boys, Reuben and Tom, and succumb to the joys
of continuous house renovation in Hawthorn, Adelaide! |
